How To Make & Freeze Your Own Wraps/Burritos for Healthy, Tasty & Cheap Breakfasts/Lunches/Dinners ( Step By Step Pictures)

Burritos are great for breakfast, lunch or dinner it's fast, portable, and can be ready in under 2 minutes by freezing it ahead. These are not only easy to make but also freeze well, and give you complete control over what's inside

Take sometime on Sunday to make and freeze a batch of your favorite burritos, then enjoy a hot and incredibly filling meal anytime all week long, that only takes 2 minutes .

These are the BEST and will keep you full for hours! You can fill your burritos with whatever ingredients you like best, these are easy on the budget and a perfect make-ahead idea from leftover too.Just divide your leftovers evenly among the tortillas, wrap tightly in foil, and freeze, Voila.

Assemble Your Burrito:- Lay large (8″) flour tortillas out on a clean surface & Divide the fillings evenly between the tortillas.

Roll the burritos :- By folding over the top of the tortilla, folding in the sides, then rolling to the end.

Prepare To Freeze :-Wrap each one in plastic wrap then, if the ingredients inside differ, mark the outside with the initials. After wrapping i usually put then in a freezer in a tray for 1 hour or so until it firms up.Date and label a freezer bag, then place the burritos inside and freeze.

How To Reheat The Frozen Burrito:-When you’re ready to eat, Remove a breakfast burrito from your freezer about five to 10 minutes before breakfast(if possible:). Unwrap the burrito and place it on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave the burrito on medium-high for two to three minutes or until thoroughly heated. Add condiments, such as vgean sour cream or chipotle dressing, after the burrito is heated.

OPTIONAL STEP:- Unwrap the burrito & microwave on microwave safe plate for 1 minute , then Coat an 8-inch nonstick skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium to medium-high heat.Transfer the burrito to the hot skillet (seam side down ) and cook until light brown, carefully flip the burrito and cook the another side. ( this step can be skipped if you have cooked tortilla, mine was not cooked).

Wrap in foil if desired. Repeat with the rest of the tortillas

Breakfast is served!..Enjoy :)

Notes:-
1)Whenever making burrotis keep the ingredients simple and flavorful. Rice, beans, sautéed vegetables, roasted potatoes and/or a sprinkle of vegan cheese will do the trick.

2) DO NOT ADD fresh vegetables, like fresh tomatoes or lettuce as they don't take freeze well.

3) Allow your burrito filling to cool, place it in a warm tortilla, wrap the burrito and let the tortilla cool to room temperature. Freezing hot burritos can cause uneven freezing, which can alter the texture and taste of the food.

4)Ideal way to freeze your wraps once you've made them is to wrap them in foil, then tightly wrap them again in plastic wrap. Doing both may create a lot of waste, but it ensures that your precious burritos aren't exposed to freezer air, and your food doesn't spoil or get freezer burned before you get a chance to eat it. ( I didn't do this way as i used double sided freezer bags )

5)You can also thaw burritos in the refrigerator overnight, then wrap each in foil and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes until hot. The thawed burritos can also be deep fried for 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crisp.

6)If frozen carefully, the burritos can last for a year.( It will be gone wayyyy before that i promise..:)

10 Tips To A Great Healthy Plate

The "healthy plate" is a way to divide your plate into 3 sections — protein, grains, and vegetables. It's a simple way to eat smarter without weighing or measuring food.

Use a small dinner plate to dish up these servings:

Use this plate to help you portion your food in a healthy way and make meal planning easier. Portions are based on a small dinner plate.

1) Fill ¼ of the plate with a healthy protein source (fish, chicken, eggs, lentils, cooked beans, or tofu).

2) Fill ¼ of the plate with healthy grains or starches such as brown rice, whole wheat pasta, quinoa, corn, peas, or a slice of whole grain bread or one corn or whole wheat tortilla.

3) Fill ½ of the plate with non-starchy vegetables like carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, green beans, greens, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, spinach, or asparagus.

Making Food Choices for a healthy lifestyle can be as simple as using these 10 Tips. Use the ideas in this list to balance your calories , to choose foods to eat more often, and to cut back on foods to eat less often.

1. Balance Calories

Find out how many calories YOU need for a day as a first step in managing your weight. Being physically active also helps you balance calories.

2. Enjoy Your Food, But Eat Less.

Take the time to fully enjoy your food as you eat it. Eating too fast or when your attention is elsewhere may lead to eating too many calories. Pay attention to hunger and fullness cues before, during, and after meals. Use them to recognize when to eat and when you have had enough.

3. Avoid Oversized Portions.

Use a smaller plate, bowl, and glass. Portion out foods before you eat. When eating out, choose a smaller size option, share a dish, or take home part of your meal.

4. Foods To Eat More Often

Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and fat-free or 1% milk & dairy products. These foods have the nutrients you need for health - including potassium, calcium , basis for meals and snacks.

5. Make Half Your Plate Fruits & Vegetables

Choose red, orange, and dark-green vegetables like tomatoes, sweet potatoes , and broccoli, along with other vegetables for your meals. Add fruit to meals as part of main or side dishes or as dessert .

6.Switch To Fat-Free Or Low-Fat (1%) milk

They have the same amount of calcium and other essential nutrients as whole milk, but fewer calories and less saturated fat.

7.Make Half Your Grains Whole Grains

To eat more whole grains, substitute a whole - grain product for a refined product - such as eating whole - wheat bread instead of white bread or brown rice instead of white rice.

8.Foods To Eat less Often

Cut back on foods high in solid fats, added sugars, and salt. They include cakes, cookies, ice cream, candies, sweetened drinks, pizza, and fatty meats like ribs, sausages, bacon, and hot dogs. Use these foods as occasional treats, not everyday foods.

9.Compare Sodium In Foods.

Use the Nutrition Facts label to choose lower sodium versions of foods like soup , bread, and frozen meals. Select canned foods labeled "low sodium", "reduced sodium", or "no salt added".

10. Drink Water Instead Of Sugary Drinks.

Cut calories by drinking water or unsweetened beverages. Soda, energy drinks, and sports drinks are a major source of added sugar, and calories, in American diet.

For Good Nutrition Also Choose Each Day:-

1) 1 small fruit serving , such as an orange, banana, apple, or 1 cup of berries or melon with each meal.

2) 2 to 3 cups of non fat or low fat milk or yogurt.

3) A small amount of healthy fats, such as olive or canola oil, trans fat free margarine , or a small handful of nuts
