Kitchen Tips & Tricks - May 2013



Here is the list of all the great kitchen tips that i shared in May 2013 on my facebook .


- Smoothies are great & easy way to get your fruit serving of the day..Just blend any fruit with yogurt & Enjoy..

- Add a pinch of sugar while cooking any green leaf vegetables. This will help maintain the bright green color.

- Before pouring milk into a pot for boiling rub butter along the top edge and inside lip of the pot. When the milk foams up, it will stop over spilling when it hits the butter.OR Keep a long-handled spoon in the milk container

- Believe It or Not , honey is the only non perishable food substance, so don't get rid off the stuff if it crystallizes or become cloudy . You can place the jar in a pot of hot water and leave it alone until it liquefies.

- Pop the lemon in microwave for 30 seconds or roll it on the flat surface before squeezing, it will give you more juice.

- Always boil the water before adding , whenever you need to increase the curry.It helps in retaining the taste of the spices added to it.

- A Blender Cleaning Secret:- After you are done making your shake, put in a little warm water and a drop of dish soap, put it back on the blender, and turn it on for 20 seconds. Rinse it out and you’re done.

- Always put a few grains of rice in the salt shakers. It is said that the rice will absorb any excess moisture and keep the salt from clumping.

- Mix cookie dough, freeze in ice cube tray, pop out and keep in freezer bag. Then when you want fresh baked cookies, you can bake a few at a time.

- Add baking soda to the water when hard boiling eggs and the shell will come right off.

- Whenever you are straining pasta in the kitchen sink , keep the cold water running while straining..this will protect your sink pipes damage from hot water
