Matar Paneer
It is fun to try variations of usual dish. Since you have made it so many times it becomes second nature and the taste is also something you get bored with. So I started looking for getting different flavor/taste from same old dishes . I came across a video on youtube (unfortunately couldn't find the link ) and thought of giving it a try, it was totally worth , matar paneer turned out super yummy and in the process I learned new recipe for typical stuff.

Ingredients:-
Butter:- 2 Tbsp
Ghee:- 2 Tbsp
Cinnamon:- 1
Bay Leaf:- 1
Cardamom:- 1
Cumin Seeds:- 1 Tsp
Onion:- 1 1/2
Ginger:- 1 inch piece
Cashews:- 2 Tbsp
Tomatoes:- 2
salt as per taste
Red Chilli Powder:- 1 Tsp
Turmeric Powder:- 1 Tsp
Coriander Powder:- 1 Tsp
Cumin Powder:- 1 Tsp
Garam Masala:- 1 Tsp
Aamchoor/ Dry Mango Powder:- 1/2 Tsp
Kasoori Methi:- 1/2 Tsp
Peas:- 1 Cup
Paneer:- 1 1/2 Cup
Water:- 2 1/2 Cups
Cream:- 1/2 Cup
Procedure:-
Grind Onion, Ginger & cashews together in a food processor and set aside
Grind tomatoes and set aside
If you are using the paneer loaf, then cut them into cubes and fry them in oil or ghee till they turn light brown in color. Then soak these paneer cubes in hot water for about 1/2 an hour so as to make them soft. If you are using the fried that we get in Indian grocery stores then u can directly place them in hot water and allow it to stay for half an hour to make it soft.
1) Heat butter and ghee in a non stick pan.
2) Add cinnamon, bay leaf , cardamom & cumin
3) Add onion paste ( made earlier) and cook until golden brown.
4) Add tomato puree and all the spices ( except kasoori methi) and mix everything well, cook until oil start separating from the sides ( it will take 10-15 minutes).
5) Add water and peas , cover and let it simmer for 5 minutes ( or until peas are cooked)
6) Add paneer and kasoori methi powder and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
Add cream and serve hot with chapatis..Enjoy:)
Yumm, the curry looks superb. So true we need to keep working on new flavors to break the monotony.
