Chole Palak / Garbanzo Beans With Spinach
Chole Palak is a nice and healthy combo of protein packed beans and super food spinach and is great alternative for usual channa masla dish
Ingreinets:-
Boiled Chole:- 2 1/2 cups
Oil:- 2-3 Tbsp
Jeera/Cumin seeds:- 1 Tsp
Rai/Mustard Seeds:- 1/2 Tsp
Onion:- 1/2 (chopped)
Ginger - garlic paste:- 1 Tbsp
Tomato puree:- 1/2 cup or puree 1 medium size tomato in a blender/food processor
Tomato Paste:- 1 1/2 Tbsp
Turmeric Powder:- 1 Tsp
Red Chilli Powder:- 1/2 Tsp
Garam Masala Powder:- 1 Tsp
Salt as per taste
Channa Masala:- 2 Tsp
Coriander Powder:- 1 Tsp
Kasoori Methi powder:- 1 Tsp
Spinach:- 2 Handful (chopped roughly)
Procedure:-
1) Heat oil in a pan jeera /cumin seeds, Mustard , when they start to splutter then add ginger and garlic and fry for a minute
2)Now add onions, stir it till it becomes brown in color.
3)Add tomato puree, tomato paste, turmeric,Chilli powder ,garam masala , salt & little water(1-2 tbsp approx) , mix it well.
4)Saute the mixture till tomatoes become soft (Approximately for 5-7 minutes)
5) Add boiled chole/garbanzo beans & spinach , mix everything well( add little water if it seems little dry).cook for 5 minutes
6)Add coriander powder, channa masala & Kasoori methi powder, Mix everything well.cook for 2-3 minutes
Garnish it with coriander. Serve hot with Rotis/Indian Bread...Enjoy:)

ReplyDeleteI was looking online for a recipe for the chickpea/spinach combination I enjoy in restaurants and found this one. I just made it, and we enjoyed it very much! The recipe was easy to follow and produced excellent results. I also made the mixed vegetable raita (with somewhat fewer vegetables, just what I had on hand), and that was wonderful too.
