Suhali - A Indian Tea Time Snack
This is great savory tea time snack and can be made on special occasions like Holi or Diwali.. Shape the dough as you please, I like shape below as it comes nice and looks appealing and mouth watering on serving plate:).. Remember to deep fry on medium heat. If the heat is high they get cooked on outside only while inside remains uncooked.
Suhali Recipe
Inspired from here
Ingredients:-
All purpose Flour:- 2 1/2 cups
Ghee:- 3 tbsp
Jeera/Cumin seeds:- 1/2 tsp
Kasoori Methi:- 1 tsp
Ajwain:-1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Oil for deep frying
Procedure:-
1) Place all the ingredients in a bowl.
2)Mix everything well , rub the flour mixture between your hands till it becomes crumbly..
3) Now add water little by little to make a smooth dough.
4)Cover the dough with a moist muslin cloth for an hour.
5) Make small balls and roll it into a small circle( 2-3 inches in diameter)
Fold the discs into half and again fold them into another half giving them a triangular shape.
7) Heat oil and deep – fry the folded pieces till done and crisp. Serve with spicy mint chutney. Store in an airtight container.
Tip for Suhali : This can also be baked instead of frying. Pierce the triangular suhaliwith a fork before frying. This ensures that is does not absorb too much oil.
