Palak/Spinach Poori - A Healthy Snack For Kids
Poori is usually unhealthy and high fat bread so most health conscious people avoid it.. Here is healthy option for everyone.. Palak poori is a delicious and healthy Indian fry bread using spinach and whole wheat flour.It is equally good option for kids and adults.. The pooris are soft and lasting so they can be carry out food on your small trips or can be served as first meal on long drives.
Ingredients:-
Whole wheat Flour:- 3 cups
Rice Flour:- 2 tbsp
Besan:- 2 tbsp
Asafoetida:- A pinch
Red Chilli Powder:- 1/2 tsp
Cumin Powder:- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder:-1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Sesame Seeds:- 1/2 tbsp
Make a paste of:-
1 tomato
Green chillies as per your taste
1 tbsp of ginger & garlic paste
Grind 1/2 bunch of spinach into a paste separately adding little water if needed
Procedure:-
1) Mix all the spices and flour (dry ingredients ) together
2) Now add tomato and spinach paste in the dry ingredients.
3) Make a dough adding water only if needed.
4) Let the dough sit for 10 minutes covered with wet cloth.
5)Now make a lime size ball from the dough and roll each into a small circles with rolling pin .
6)Deep fry poori's in hot oil for a minute, turn side & fry until puffed and golden in color
Serve hot or at room temperature with curd/raita and pickle of your choice..Enjoy:)
Great snack...the color makes it so appealing. I usually make rotis the same way, but i'm sure going to try this the next time.
