I AM BACK & Lauki (Bottle gourd ) Kofta Curry

I know i titled my last post as short break but somehow it became a long one:)...i missed all you guys and now i am back with this delicious lauki kofta curry recipe and many more to come..

Ingredients:-

For Pakora( Lauki koftas)

1/2 cup besan/ Gram Flour
1 medium lauki ( grated)
Salt
Dhaniya/ coriander seeds:- 2 tsp
Garam Masala:- 1 tsp
Red Chilli powder:- 1tsp
Turmeric:- 1/2 tsp
Ajwain:- 1tsp

Mix everything in a bowl and then add water little by little to make a thick paste..make round balls out of it , Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the balls until golden brown..Keep aside on a paper towel to cool down

For Kofta Curry/Gravy:-

Onions:- 2 (chopped)
Garlic:- 5 ( chopped)
1 inch ginger piece ( skin removed and chopped)
Green chillies:- 2
Oil:- 3 -4 tbsp
Cumin/ Jeera:- 1tsp
Mustard seeds:- 1tsp
Few curry leaves
Tomatoes:- 3 small ( chopped)
Salt as per taste
Turmeric:- 1tsp
Red chilli powder:- 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala:- 1 tsp
Milk :- 1/2 cup
Coriander Leaves to garnish

Procedure:-

1) To prepare curry, heat oil in a pan add curry leaves, jeera & mustard seeds, allow it to splutter
2) Add green chillies, ginger and garlic and fry for a minute
3) Now add onions, stir it till it becomes brown in color
4) Add tomatoes , turmeric, powder , garam masala & little water(1-2 tbsp approx) , mix it well.
5) Saute the mixture till tomatoes become soft (Approximately for 5-7 minutes)
6) Switch off the gas and let the tomato mixture cool down.
7) Grind the mixture in a grinder to a smooth paste.
8) Transfer the grinded mixture to the same pan and cook on medium heat for about 2 minutes
9) Now add milk and mix everything well, add enough water to make a thick gravy , let the gravy boil on medium heat for 3-4 minutes ( it will thicken as it boils)..

You can add cream also to make a thick gravy, add the koftas in the gravy when you are ready to serve otherwise it will break down.

Garnish it with coriander leaves & serve with steaming hot rice or roti/indian bread..Enjoy:)

  14. Hey preety, liked ur recipes a lot nd i even tried lauki ka kofta by you today...
just to inform you i sqeezed out water from grated gourd, coz it tends to leave water on binding,or else it would become watery...
apart frm this it turned out quite well n yummy..
